SWIM THE CHANEL AND RAISE MONEY
FOR THE CLUB
- sponsored relay event to complete 21 miles in under two hours -
Members and supporters of the City of Ely Swimming Club are preparing to swim home from France! On Wednesday 6th April, they will again attempt a team swim of the equivalent distance across the English Channel, in under two hours. Four years ago they successfully completed the swim to France and the time has come to return home – hopefully raising some much needed funds in the process.
The relay event will involve swimmers aged from 7 to over 70, including club members, parents and supporters. The Club is aiming to raise money to support the activities for all the Club members – including land training, gala attendance, and to host the German Club’s visit from Kempen this coming September.
Steve Ball, the Chairman of the City of Ely Swimming Club, explains: “We want to ensure we offer all our members as much opportunity as we can to be as successful as possible and that includes broadening horizons with visits to licensed competitions, meeting other clubs and widening the scope of the training at the club. We do not want to lose any potential Rebecca Adlington’s, so we need to ensure we have a successful and vibrant club to attract more members. Therefore we are relying on donations from generous sponsors and supporters to raise more funds for the club rather than simply increasing the membership fees, we want to involve the wider community.”
Please download a sponsorship form and collect as many sponsors as possible – we are raising money for club activities for all members.
If you aren’t swimming please volunteer to help we will need lane counters etc
Many thanks – The Committee
