ELY SWIMMER WINS SPORT SCHOLARSHIP
Local Nationally ranked swimmer Jeffery Hill (17) has been awarded a scholarship to study and train at the prestigious West Country College as part of its new venture, the Kelly Academy of Sport.

The two year course offers a proven successful formula of international coaching, training and competing along with a specialist sporting academic programme for aspiring international swimmers and triatheletes.

Jeff was delighted to take up this marvellous opportunity to continue his education, while being able to train on a programme designed around the individual, which has a proven track record of producing National and International athletes.

Jeff will be training under former Olympian and Great Britain coach Robin Brew. Kelly College has a wealth of coaching experience, and Jeff will be looking to improve his National rankings by training alongside some of the top swimmers and triatheletes in the country.

The academic timetable has been designed around the students, allowing them to train for over 20 hours per week in both 50m and 25m pools and in the college gym facilities. Even with all this work, the timetable still allows plenty of free time for the students, so Jeff is looking forward to a very busy (and tiring !) time.

Kelly College runs a programme for all age groups, and competes in the National Speedo League and other District and National events.   The College proudly claims to have a current or former swim squad member at every Olympic games since 1980.

When home from college, Jeffery will continue his training with local club City of Ely Swimming Club, who provided a structured platform for progression in a happy relaxed atmosphere. Club members will be following Jeff's progress with interest. Any new members wishing to join the Ely swimming squad should contact The Membership Secretary or Head Coach at the Paradise Pool, Ely (01353 665481).
